Little Company of Mary Christchurch
The pale pink peony type camellia was named “Mary Potter” to mark the sesqui-centenary (150 years) of Mary Potter’s birth on 22nd November 1847. The camellia was propagated at Camellia Glen Nursery in South Taranaki in 1997. This nursery has since closed.
A Mary Potter camellia was planted in the Camellia Garden at Christchurch Botanical Gardens. Three of these beautiful flowering shrubs also grow happily in the garden adjacent to the Mary Potter Community Centre.
